Healthcare organizations and medical practices utilize complex, high-risk systems and technologies, often in potentially dangerous environments. Reliability is essential: Failure of any system or technology could lead to catastrophic consequences.
That’s why your EHR is not a simple, one-time purchase.
EHR technology has become central to medical practice operations. It’s not just something simple the vendor programs, installs, and abandons. Today’s EHR must be built to last. That means it needs to be:
Highly reliable,
Adaptable, and
Subject to continuous improvement.
Your EHR needs to function as a reliable long-term partner in both patient care and practice performance. Veradigm EHR is a solution with this partnership philosophy at its core.
When choosing an EHR, reliability is crucial—and it depends on multiple factors. These include the EHR’s:
Veradigm EHR is extremely vigilant in each of these areas.
After analyzing feedback from more than 500,000 clinicians worldwide on EHR usage and reliability, KLAS Research reported “industry-wide issues” with system reliability and response time. Only 18 of the 270 participating organizations reported that 90% or more of their clinicians had few or no difficulties with their EHR’s reliability.
Veradigm understands the importance of an EHR that clinicians can count on to function when needed, which means absolute commitment to maintaining high standards in our products. The result? Downtime and service interruptions are rare. For instance, 2025 YTD Shared Hosted Uptime data show average uptimes of 99.70% and 99.9% for our 2 major data centers for hosted Veradigm EHR clients.1
EHR reliability extends beyond system uptime. It’s also a measure of whether you can trust the EHR to incorporate regulatory changes to enable compliance in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
One compliance benchmark is certification by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). ONC certification is a voluntary certification program with standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria defined by the Department of Health and Human Services to support the availability of certified health IT. ONC-certified EHR technology must conform to the full scope of required capabilities, which are updated regularly.
Veradigm EHR has a long track record of ONC certification, which translates to showing that Veradigm EHR can be trusted to be up-to-date with the most recent regulations, requirements, and technological specifications.
Currently, EHR compliance and interoperability are closely linked. That’s because the ONC’s “Base EHR” requirements include the capability to exchange electronic health information with, and integrate electronic health information from, other sources. Interoperability is an essential component of ONC certification.
It’s important to note that although ONC certification is voluntary, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires ONC certification for participation in certain CMS programs, such as the MIPS Promoting Interoperability category.
Veradigm emphasizes interoperability by allowing seamless integration with other systems and electronic health information exchanges. This enables providers to access and share patient data across different healthcare settings, leading to more coordinated and efficient care delivery.
Veradigm also includes access to Carequality, a nonprofit interoperability framework, for all Veradigm EHR clients. Carequality’s interoperability framework supports access to health information across networks operated by EHR vendors, health information exchanges, and others.
The security of today’s medical practices is threatened by the risk of cyberattacks that are more frequent, more sophisticated, and more likely to target smaller physician groups. Security failures, and the resulting data breaches and HIPAA violations, can interfere with patient care and expose sensitive health information.
Data breaches also carry high financial costs:
Veradigm prioritizes patient security through continuous updates and security enhancements designed to protect practices and patient data. Certified Veradigm products include security features specified by the ONC Certification Rule, including authentication and access control, as well as authorization, auditing, and encryption features. Veradigm EHR also includes features that go beyond the ONC’s defined security essentials. Veradigm also employs a secure development lifecycle incorporating risk-based threat modeling, automated code reviews, and security testing for products.
Veradigm conducts additional certifications, accreditations, and independent reviews for our products as well, including SOC 2 Type 2 reports, EHNAC accreditation, EPCS certifications, and ISO 9001:2015 reviews, among others. These processes enable us to validate our security controls and ensure adherence to the latest healthcare standards.
Veradigm EHR is a platform designed by physicians for physicians—and, as such, it’s tailored to each practice’s needs. Customizable workflows and specialty-specific content make it easy to accommodate the unique workflows of specialty practices. These include allergy and immunology, cardiology, urology, neurology, gastroenterology, OB/GYN, and more.
The Veradigm EHR platform is also scalable, allowing it to evolve as your practice grows. The software can be configured to meet your changing needs, from multilocation groups to high-volume specialty clinics.
Veradigm prioritizes continuous improvement for all its solutions. This is part of the reason behind Veradigm EHR’s Black Book 2025 #1 rankings for Ambulatory EHR Family Practice and Ambulatory EHR Primary Care General Practice. Our commitment to ongoing innovation and user-driven enhancements has enabled us to build an efficient and easy-to-use platform. Clients rated Veradigm EHR 9.3 out of 10 for ease of navigation and telehealth integration.
Our commitment to continuous improvement means that Veradigm EHR includes tools beyond those for basic EHR functionality, such as:
